Plough Blessing
Sunday 30th June was a lovely sunny brisk morning at All Saints Emu for the blessing of the plough. We celebrated the hard working farmers who sow their crop each year in hope, dependent on the vagaries of the weather to reach a fruitful harvest. The service used was a wonderfully poetic service appreciating the work and the skill of the farmers, and praying for seasonal weather for the crop ahead. Bill Cole provided a beautiful old plough, and we marvelled how machines and farming practices have changed over the years. Most of the crops are already sown and growing well, and our countryside looks like beautifully manicured parkland. After the service we went to the recently refurbished Emu hall for lunch.
Earlier in the morning those who couldn't make it to the Plough Blessing enjoyed a cosy service in St Arnaud under blankets.
