The beautiful old Irish Strawberry Tree, Arbutus unedo that grows beside Christ Church Old Cathedral St Arnaud was not well two years ago. Sooty mold was growing on the leaves and no fruit appeared in season. However after treatment was applied and some of the dead wood cut back this beautiful historic tree is looking much healthier. It has produced a little fruit and is now covered with buds.
The fruit is edible, and the leaves medicinal so it is a very useful tree. Next year we will make jam.
